Meet Jo

Jo (they/them) is a licensed massage therapist and manual lymph drainage certified practicing in MA, with roots in rural New Hampshire and California. Jo graduated from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine at the top of their class. They are certified in prenatal and postnatal massage through Mamassage. Jo participated in an internship at Womankind, a nonprofit dedicated to helping survivors of gender-based violence. Jo has additional training in scar massage, trauma, and postpartum doula.

I am queer, trans, non-binary, and white, and my goals are to make massage accessible to people in marginalized communities and to build trust with our bodies. I believe that by providing more care for our bodies, we can reduce stress, increase health, and reduce the effects in the body of systemic factors like racism, transphobia, ableism and the general stress of the world around us -- bolstering our bodies as resistance and wisdom.

Massage

My goal in massage is to make people feel safe in their bodies. In a world where our bodies are judged everyday, it's difficult to feel a sense of safety within our bodies. Massage can help you build trust with another human and yourself to help feel safe, loved, and respected, and to create security and community.

I specialize in prenatal and postpartum massage, trauma informed massage, scar massage, and Shiatsu and Thai floor massage. Let us work together to reduce pain, discomfort, stress, anxiety, or whatever is bothering you today. I blend many techniques to put together a massage specialized to you and what you want during the session.

Massage helped me feel safe enough in my body to come out as non-binary. It taught me to listen to what my body needed, ask for what I wanted and needed. I want to bring these skills to other people, creating feelings of consent, understanding, and  appreciation for our bodies instead of frustration, fatigue, and confusion. I want you have a conversation with your body, to build autonomy within your body.

My practice is inclusive of all bodies: colors, genders, ability, shapes, and sizes. You are welcome here. I will meet you wherever you are at, and we can work on anything together.
